Born in 1922 into a violin-making family, Jacques Audinot's first experience in violin making was with his father Pierre Audinot as an apprentice in 1936. He subsequently moved to Roger and Max Millant's firm in Paris, eventually taking up bow-making with Jean-Jacques Millant in 1955. When the Millant firm closed in 1969, he started his own workshop at 15 Rue de Leningrad. His style is mainly inspired by his mentor J. J. Millant, who was known as a remarkably innovative maker, and by the Peccatte school of French bow-making. This bow is sold with a certificate of authenticity by Raffin.

This bow is stamped "J. Audinot a Paris" and weighs 61.0 grams. It has a round stick of Pernambuco, measuring 750mm in length with a silver tinsel lapping, and a leather grip. The frog is made from ebony and is silver mounted with a Parisian eye and a silver button. It is in excellent condition.

This violin bow has an strong, slightly more rigid stick. It possesses a clarity in all strokes, with an even spiccato and remarkably clean ricochet. With strong and crisp articulation and a good balance across all strings, this bow is most suitable for someone performing at a professional level.
