This bow was made in the workshop of Morizot & Fils in Mirecourt for the Collin-Mezin firm around 1945. The Morizot firm was created by Louis Morizot père, who had learned bow-making from Eugène Cuniot-Hury and Charles Nicolas Bazin, eventually working with Eugène Sartory (whose influence, along with Bazin's, is most notable in his work). In 1933, he created the workshop with his five sons, who had all trained with him, and their combined output lasted until the 1970's, well after Morizot père's death in 1957. This bow is sold with a certificate by Pierre Guillaume.

This violin bow is stamped "Collin-Mezin" and weighs 59.5 grams. It has a round stick of pernambuco, measuring 741mm in length, with French winding of silver tinsel and brown silk. The frog is made from ebony, silver mounted with a mother of pearl eye and with a three part button of silver and ebony. It is in excellent condition.

This violin bow has a slightly springier, more flexible stick. It has a smooth tone and easy response, with a spiccato with many different shades of speed and bite. With a lighter feel, it is balanced a little more towards the frog and slightly favours the upper register, but still has plenty of intensity and engagement in the lower. This bow is most suitable for someone playing at a tertiary level or higher.
