Meet Our Staff
David Glanville has been making and restoring violins for over 25 years and learned from both Harry Vatiliotis and Cedric Clark. His unique perspective as a player and a maker means that he has a strong understanding of the needs of players at all levels. Over his 20 years of running The Sydney String Centre he has developed his own style for setting up instruments that has more than met the needs of Australian students, teachers and professionals.
Douglas Glanville has studied violin-making from his father David since 2002. In 2008 he studied in Germany under the direction of master violin makers Klaus Clement and Hagen Weise and as well as this, spent time in the bowmaking workshops of Josef Gabriel and the Brothers Grunke. His interests lie heavily with varnish in which he is conducting his own research. |
