Beilharz began instrument making in 1982 at 18 years of age in Melbourne as an apprentice under John Ferwerda, and has since gone on to complete several years training in Germany under the likes of Bernhard Franke and Antoine Muller. In that time he received his Journeyman Certificate in Markneukirchen and his Master certificate with distinction. He returned to Australia in 1997 where he setup his workshop and began making instruments full time. Beilharz has partaken in numerous competitions and received many accolades, including, three certificates of merit and a four silver medals at the VSA competitions in the USA since 2012. His instruments are some of the most sought after in Australia, and are played internationally by members of the world's greatest symphony orchestras. \n\nThis violin is labelled \"Rainer Beilharz Australia \/ 2025 \/ 164\" and bears his signature. The body measures 353mm along the back, 169mm across the upper bouts and 204mm across the lower bouts. The back has been made with two pieces of well-flamed maple with a narrow curl, and the ribs and scroll have been made to match. The top is of a finely grained spruce and has been lightly antiqued.
