Hagen Weise 145 Bergonzi Model Violin Bubenreuth 2018
This violin was made by master luthier Hagen Weise in 2018. Weise has been active since 1991 when he commenced work for the Roderisch Paesold Company in Bubenreuth, Germany. In 2004 Weise successfully completed his master violin-making examination. Since 2010 Weise has been dedicated to making fine instruments in his own workshop located in Bubenreuth, Germany. This bow is sold with a certificate of authenticity and photos from the maker.
This violin is labelled ‘Hagen Weise, Mòhrendorf 2018, 4118 145-1,’ and is based on a Bergonzi model. The body measures 356mm along the back, 165mm across the upper bouts and 203mm across the lower bouts. The back is made from two pieces of moderately flamed maple & the top is made from spruce with a straight grain. The violin has been antiqued with a good cover of golden to dark brown varnish. It has ebony fittings & is in excellent condition.
Overall this violin has a warm & well-rounded sound that perfectly balances with its powerful tone & projection. The high & low registers are very well balanced with a superior level of resonance. This instrument would be suitable for tertiary level study, advanced to professional soloists or chamber musicians. This instrument is currently fitted with Larsen ‘Il Cannone Solo’ strings which add a level of brightness & brilliance to the overall warmth of this instrument.
