    This cello bow was made by François Nicolas Voirin around 1880 in Paris. Voirin was born in 1833 in Mirecourt, France. He began his initial training and work in Mirecourt before moving to Paris in 1855 to work with his cousin Jean Baptiste Vuillaume. In 1870 Voirin began his own workshop in Paris. Voirin suddenly passed away in 1885 leaving behind him a legacy as not only one of the most reputable bow makes of the 19th century but also as one of the best French bow makers of all time. This bow comes with a certificate of authenticity and valuation from bow expert Pierre Guillaume.

    This cello bow is stamped ‘F. N. VOIRIN A PARIS’ & weighs 70.35 grams. The stick has been rounded and is made from pernambucco. It measures 705mm in length & has silver lapping. The frog is made from ebony & is silver mounted with a pearl-shell eye. This bow has a silver ferrule & a three-part button with two parts silver and one part ebony.

    This bow has a strong stick that is perfectly balanced ensuring strokes such as spiccato, sautillé & ricochet are easy to control. It further boasts easy playability and an immediate response time. This bow would suit the advanced to professional musician.
