Roby Lakatos Master Il Zingaro Violin

This instrument was made by Adalberto Barani in Budapest, Hungary. Barani's workshop works closely with Hungarian violinist Roby Lakatos, who is well known for his versatility across Hungarian folk music, classical repertoire, and jazz improvisation, and this collaboration has resulted in a range of several equally versatile instruments across the intermediate and advanced range. 

This instrument is labelled "Fatto da Adalberto Barani modello di Roby Lakatos (Il Zingaro) / Budapest. anno 2022" and is based on a Guarneri model. The body measures 354mm along the back, 168mm across the upper bouts and 209mm across the lower bouts. The back is two-piece, made from medium flamed maple with a medium curl. The maple of the ribs and scroll match the back. The top is made from medium-grained spruce. The violin has orange-brown varnish, and is finished with rosewood fittings. 

This instrument has a bright, resonant sound throughout its lower and upper registers, and is most suited for the soloist or chamber musician. It is currently fitted with Wondertone solo strings.
