This cello was made by Diego Taje in 2023 in Cremona. Diego Tajè was born in Cremona in 1966. He started learning violin making at an early age in the workshops of Massimo Negroni and Bissolotti and his son. He was then admitted directly to the 3rd of a five-year course at the International School of Violin Making in Cremona.  In 2005, he made a proposal to the Municipality of Cremona to create the Varnish Museum basing the project on the book, “Farmacopea Augustana 1734”, found in an ancient pharmacy in Cremona. In 2007, the Natural Sciences Museum of Cremona unveiled an exhibition displaying the most used varnish components with a description by Maestro Massimo Negroni. This cello is labelled 'Diego Taje / Fece in Cremona / Anna 2023' and is based on a Stradivarius model. The body measures 755mm along the back, 360mm across the upper bouts and 455mm across the lower bouts. The back is two pieces of highly flamed maple with a medium curl. The ribs and scroll match the back. The top is medium-grained spruce. The cello has been finished with reddish-brown varnish and ebony fittings. This cello has a focused sound most characterised by its clarity and evenness, equally powerful and rounded without losing any of the gentler colours. It is most suited for performance at a professional level. Please contact us if you would like to book an appointment to try this beautiful Cremonese cello
