The firm of Ernst Heinreich Roth was one of the most prolific violin-making workshops in Markeukirchen, Germany during the 20th Century. They first used several different models, many of which were faithful reproductions of classical Cremonese masterpieces by Stradivari and Guarneri.

Labeled 'Ernst Heinrich Roth anno 1968', the back of this viola is of two-piece medium flamed maple with matching ribs and scroll. The front is made from medium-grained spruce. It measures 410mm along the back, 200mm along the upper bout and 250mm along the lower bout. It is finished with red-brown varnish and ebony fittings.

This viola produces a warm, deep tone with immediate response. It is most suited to chamber and orchestral player.

Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you would like to try this viola.
