This cello bow was made in the Seifert workshop located in Bubenreuth, Germany. The Seifert workshop was founded by Oskar Seifert in 1932 who learned the craft of bowmaking from Albert Renz in Erlbach. They have a wide range of bows from a more student-intermediate level to top-quality soloist bows made by their master bowmakers. The Seifert workshop produce a small amount of bows each year & they are entirely made by hand. All wood used has been naturally dried in their workshop for more than 20 years. Each bow produced is unique & of the highest standard.

This cello bow is stamped ‘W-Seifert’ & is made from pernambucco. It has an octagonal stick & silver wire lapping. It has an ebony frog & is nickel-silver mounted with a mother of pearl eye. This bow has a silver ferrule & a button in three parts with two parts silver & one-part ebony.

This cello bow has a well-balanced with a strong stick that retains a good level of bounce to it. This facilitates strokes such as spiccato, ricochet & sautillé while retaining a strong resonance & bright sound. This bow would be suitable for tertiary level study and the advanced musician.
