The B40 is the highest instrument in the Barossa range by Glanville & Co. Glanville & Co. is a local workshop located right in the heart of Sydney. They were founded on the belief that all Australians should have access to music education and quality instruments that will nurture their development. It is through the fusion of technology & tradition that Glanville & Co. have been able to produce high-quality, customisable, innovative & affordable instruments that are entirely Australian made. This instrument comes with a certificate of authenticity & professional photos.

The B40 has a two-piece, well-flamed top-quality maple back & the top is made from top-quality spruce. This instrument is based on a Guarneri violin model. This violin has been heavily antiqued with a good cover of red-brown varnish, inspired by the red-tones of a full-bodied shiraz - the Barossa Valley’s specialty. The B40 is fitted with an ebony tailpiece, chinrest, pegs & a Teller Master bridge.

On account of the top-quality timber, skilful varnishing & workmanship, the B40 has a brilliant & powerful sound. The projection has an exquisite blend of resonance & complexity giving this instrument a beautiful colour & character rather than being purely loud. The overall tone is articulate & focused with an excellent level of clarity. This violin would be suitable for the advancing soloist, chamber musician & the serious amateur. This violin has Larsen Il Cannone Solo strings to enhance the natural brightness of this instruments sound.

Please contact us if you would like to book an appointment to try this beautiful Australian-made violin or attend one of our guided tours of the workshop.

WHAT MAKES THE B40 DIFFERENT TO THE B30?

  • A Superior quality of timber (seen in the higher flame on the back, sides, neck & scroll)
  • A brighter sound with greater projection due to the higher grade of timber & varnishing
  • High level of craftsmanship as this model has been made by our most experienced luthiers.
