Second Hand Hagen Weise #345 Goffriller Cello 4/4

This cello was made by Hagen Weise in Baiersdorf, in 2021. Weise has been active since 1991 when he commenced work for the Roderisch Paesold Company in Bubenreuth, Germany. In 2004 Weise successfully completed his master violin-making examination. Since 2010 Weise has been dedicated to making fine instruments in his own workshop, often experimenting with different kinds of woods and models of different makers. The instrument also comes with a certificate of authenticity from Weise.

The cello is labelled "Hagen Weise / Baiersdorf 2021" and is based on a Goffriller model. The body measures 754mm along the back, 338mm across the upper bouts and 443mm across the lower bouts. It has a two-piece back of moderately flamed maple with a narrow curl, with matching ribs and scroll, and the top is a finely grained spruce. It is finished with an amber-brown varnish and has ebony fittings.

This cello has a direct and bright sound. It produces many rich overtones, particularly in the lower register. It offers a very tactile playing experience and cellists can easily project the cello's deep resonance in a room of any size. It would be suited to players of a professional level or completing their tertiary studies.
