Ricardo Grisales, originally from Colombia, is the nephew of Master maker Giorgio Grisales and moved to Italy in 2000 to pursue violin making. Between 2000 and 2003 he attended the International Violinmaking school in Parma under the direction of master Elisa and Renato Scrollavezza. Upon graduating, Ricardo Grisales participated in the “Triennale of Stringed Instruments” in 2003. Since then, Ricardo Grisales has been working in Cremona alongside his uncle and dedicating his time to making classical stringed instruments and the study and restoration of antique instruments.

This violin is labelled "Ricardo C. Grisales / nipote / e allievo di Giorgio Grisales / fecit in Cremona AD 2024" and is based on a Guarneri del Gesù model. The body measures 355mm along the back, 168mm across the upper bouts and 208mm across the lower bouts. The back is made with one piece of medium flamed maple with a medium curl. The ribs and scroll have been made to match. The top is of a medium grained spruce. It has been finished with an amber-brown varnish with light antiquing and boxwood fittings.
