The Kreisler #50 Double Bass is an ideal choice for beginners and school programs, as well as jazz and rockabilly players. Hand crafted in China and professionally set up by our workshop team here in Sydney, the Kreisler #50 Double Bass produces a warm, mellow, and forgiving tone, making it a joy to learn on.

The double bass is crafted from a laminated spruce top, and laminated maple back and sides, and has a gloss light brown finish. Laminated basses are more durable and low maintenance, as they can handle impact and extreme weather conditions better than solid wood basses. Geared pegs allow for easier and more precise tuning, so players spend more time learning and playing. The double bass is strung with standard factory strings.

The Kreisler #50 is most suitable for students up to a fourth grade AMEB standard.

Our Professional Instrument Set Up

Our beginner instruments are professionally set up by our experienced luthiers and workshop technicians right here in Sydney.

A string instrument that hasn’t been properly set up can be hard to play, difficult to keep in tune, and often produces a poor sound — which can be especially discouraging for beginners. A correct setup ensures the instrument is comfortable, responsive, and enjoyable to play.

A professional setup includes shaping and fitting the bridge, preparing the fingerboard, fitting the soundpost and pegs, and sculpting the nut to ensure correct string spacings. For more information on a professional setup, click here.
