This violin was made by Raquel Salazar Saldivar and Federica Thoeny in 2025 in Lugano-Figino, Switzerland. Salazar, originally from Mexico, and Thoeny, originally from Switzerland both attended the 'International School of Violin Making Antonio Stradivari' in Cremona, graduating in 2014. Salazar furthered her training under makers such as Charles Coquet, Alberto Giordano, Jérémie Legrand, Monica Fortin and Melina Polizzi, and Thoeny further studied restoration and making under Andrea Castellani, Pascal Hornung and Silvio Levaggi and more, before moving to London in 2021 to work at Florian Leonhard. Both makers are now located at their newly opened workshop in Lugano-Figino, Switzerland where they continue to undertake making and restoration.

This violin is labelled 'Racquel Salazar Saldivar & Federica Thoeny / Lugano - Fignio, anno 2025'. The body measures 353mm along the back, 166mm across the upper bouts and 207mm across the lower bouts. The back is in one-piece of highly-flamed maple with a moderate to narrow curl, and the ribs and scroll have been made to match. The top is of a widely grained spruce, and has been finished with a red-brown varnish and ebony fittings.

This violin possesses a bright and sweet sound which resonates across both the high and low registers. It has a particularly sparkly and clear character on the E-string but this does not detract from the fullness of the bottom strings. It is very responsive and the sweet tone is very delightful for players engaging in chamber music ensembles.
