This violin was made by Edgar Russ in 2022 in Cremona. Originally from Austria, Edgar Russ developed a passion for musical instrument making at an early age. He graduated from the International School of Violin Making in Cremona in 1989, after which he moved to America to expand his expertise. Russ returned to Cremona and opened his first workshop in 1990, participating in various important exhibitions and music fairs world-wide for 5 years. After collaborating with Giorgio Grisales the following 10 years, he opened a new independent workshop in the heart of Cremona in 2004.

This violin is labelled "Edgar E. Russ / fece in Cremona anno 2022" and "Laurentius Storioni Fecit / Cremona 1781". The body measures 357mm along the back, 163mm across the upper bouts and 208mm across the lower bouts. It has a two-piece back of highly flamed maple with a medium curl, and matching ribs and scroll. The top is of a finely grained spruce, and the violin has a gold-amber varnish with ebony fittings.

This violin has a warm and rich sound and is most suited for performance at a professional level. It has a very mature and well-rounded character, with a broad lower register and a singing upper register, and has an amazing carrying power to an audience.
