Mario Gadda Workshop Violin Mantua 1997

This violin was made in the workshop of Mario Gadda in 1997 in Mantova. 

It is labeled 'Anno 1997 / Mario Gadda / Fece in Mantova / Modello Personale" and is signed at the top of the label, and branded with a monogram above the label and with "M. Gadda Mantova" below the label. The body measures 354mm along the back, 167mm across the upper bouts and 205mm across the lower bouts. It has a one-piece back of highly flamed maple of a tight curl, with matching ribs and scroll. The top is of a finely but lightly grained spruce, and the violin has an orange-red varnish with ebony fittings. It is in good condition. 

This violin has a bright, powerful sound, quite well balanced across the registers, and with an easy action. While it does have an edge to the sound, it doesn't become brash even with a lot of energy and intensity. It is most suited for people playing at a tertiary level or higher.
