This violin was made by Hagen Weise in Möhrendorf in 2016. Weise has been active since 1991 when he commenced work for the Roderisch Paesold Company in Bubenreuth, Germany. In 2004 Weise successfully completed his master violin-making examination. Since 2010 Weise has been dedicated to making fine instruments in his own workshop in Baiersdorf, often experimenting with different kinds of woods and models of different makers.

This violin is labelled "Hagen Weise / Möhrendorf 2016" and is based on Guarneri model. The body measures 352mm along the back, 166mm across the upper bouts and 205mm across the lower bouts. The back is in two pieces of lightly flamed maple with a medium curl and heavy antiquing, and the ribs and scroll have been made to match. The top is of a moderately grained spruce and finished with a golden-brown varnish on a golden ground. It has been fitted with rosewood pegs and tail piece, and an ebony chinrest.

This violin has a bright character which sparkles in the upper register. It projects depth and darkness in the lower register and has a good responsiveness. It would be most suited to a solo or chamber musician at a tertiary level or higher.
