Cello - Johann Stauffer #601E, 4/4

This beautiful cello is a German-made instrument using two-pieces of maple for the back and sides, and the top is made of a finely grained spruce. This instrument is fitted with a french bridge, ebony pegs, and a Wittner tailpiece with built-in fine tuners. This cello has a red brown varnish with no flaming, and measures 753mm in length, 350mm along the upper bout, 439mm across the lower bout.

The Stauffer 601E is an expressive and colourful instrument that responds well to all playing styles, and remains balanced across the upper and lower registers. There is a particular depth and darkness that is characteristic of this instrument that remains consistent at both ends of the dynamic range.
