Hagen Weise Cello #360 Goffriller 2022 Baiersdorf Germany

This cello was made by Hagen Weise in Baiersdorf in 2022. Weise has been active since 1991 when he commenced work for the Roderisch Paesold Company in Bubenreuth, Germany. In 2004 Weise successfully completed his master violin-making examination. Since 2010 Weise has been dedicated to making fine instruments in his own workshop, often experimenting with different kinds of woods and models of different makers. 

It is labelled "Hagen Weise / Baiersdorf 09/2022 Birnbaum". The body measures 757mm along the back, 340mm across the upper bouts and 448mm across the lower bouts. It has a two piece back of pearwood, which has a remarkable rippling flame with matching ribs and scroll, and the top is of a tightly grained spruce. The cello is finished with a amber varnish and fittings of rosewood. 

In terms of sound, this cello has a rich and silky character, which projects easily and with lots of clarity. It has a good sense of playability as well, being very focused and speaking easily while still being comfortable under the fingers. It would be best suited to players of a professional level, especially for solo performance.
