Lutherie Artistique Violin 3/4 France c.1900
This violin is a French Trade instrument made around the early 1900's.
This violin is labelled "Lutherie Artistique / M. Couturieux". The body measures 335mm along the back, 158mm across the upper bouts and 194mm across the lower bouts. The back is made with two-pieces of highly flamed maple with ribs and scroll to match. The top is of a finely grained spruce and has been finished with a golden-brown varnish and rosewood pegs. It is in good condition.
This violin possesses a sweet and balanced tone. It resonates well, and the upper registers are characterised by clarity and responsiveness. It projects very well and is easy to play, with a lovely action and string height, making it highly suited to young musicians already performing at a high level.
