Matteo Marsili 'Guarneri del Gesù' Violin Cremona 2025
Matteo Marsili studied at the International School of Violin Making in Cremona under the guidance of Master Massimo Negroni. After graduating in 2010 he took on an internship in Negroni’s workshop perfecting his skills in violin making. In 2017, Marsili took the step in opening a home workshop in the centre of Casalmaggiore. Since 2018, Marsili has taken part in a number of local events and exhibitions in Casalmaggiore and now focuses much of his time on perfecting his craft, and experimenting in personal varnishing recipes.
This violin is labelled "Matteo Marsili / Casalmaggiore / Cremona / Anno 2025" and bears his signature. It is a personal model based on a Guarneri del Gesù. The body measures 354mm along the back, 164mm across the upper bouts and 204mm across the lower bouts. The back is made with two pieces of lightly flamed maple with a narrow curl. The ribs and scroll have been made to match. The top is of a well grained spruce. It has been finished with a gold-brown varnish with light antiquing and ebony fittings.
